What is the Rising Sign, and Why THAT’S the Horoscope you should be reading

The rising sign makes up one component of “the big three” which consists of your sun sign, moon sign and rising sign. The sun rises at dawn and sets at dusk everyday. In a twenty four hour day, the sun changes astrological signs every two hours.

Your rising sign, also called the ascendent, represents the placement of the sun in the sky at the exact time and location that you were born. The way the sun dawns every day, your rising sign is the way that you “dawn” in the world.

As humans, we are naturally complex in our nature, containing many pieces that may hide under the surface, and other parts that may only be exposed to trusted people. The astrological sign that the rising sign is ruled by represents how other people see you on the outside and how you appear in the world. This placement also indicates the themes that we are meant to move towards and embody more of through our path of personal evolution in this lifetime.

So now that you have a deeper understanding of the ascendent, or rising sign, you may still be wondering why I am suggesting that you should read your rising sign horoscope instead of your sun sign horoscope.  The reason for this is because of the rising signs placement in the birth chart. The location of the ascendant sets the stage for the rest of the house placements and rulerships throughout your chart. This means that the interpretation of your rising sign horoscope will align with the same house system in your personal chart, because the starting point is the same.  Therefore, the location of planets and specific energies in different signs will be read and interpreted
